Seattle Aquarium Night Beach Walk
We joined Nora's Girls Scout Troop at a late night beach walk. This was probably the first time I've left my house to go TO the beach at 9pm. Definitely 1st time in November!
We tromped around by flashlight looking in all the tide pools. We saw baby shrimp, crab, anemones and a bunch of other stuff I don't remember the name for. Very cool!
Since we were not in our normal stomping grounds, we stopped for a cache on the way home. Our first nighttime cache adventure!

And, the Streak is Dead
I kept the streak alive for 9 days, but then missed one day. And another, and another. With my schedule and kids, I just don't have the time to cache every day.
The good news is I found 7 today keeping my 1+ a day average intact.
Waymarking Challenge - 50 -GC4RTXG
I have tried finding this on several other occasions. I was pretty sure I saw it twice before, but couldn't figure out a way to retrieve it. I finally got a hint from the cache owner. I had seen it, I just hadn't seen the fishing line to tug it out.

My GPS freaked out when I got to the park and refused to work. I wandered around a bit trying to figure out what it might be. I thought it might be this box:
but, the hint gave a numeric code which was only 3 digits. 4 are needed to open the box. I left and continued thinking about it while I went to get my milk. On the way back I stopped again. Ironically enough, my GPS stopped working again when I got to the park. Knowing the clue was "503", I looked around for something with that number on it. Right away, I saw this sign. It actually was a magnet and the cache log was stuck to the back. Very clever!

Magical Mystery Cache
I am trying to get a bit more exercise. Thought doing a multi-cache would be a good idea as they involve multiple stops. Picked a doozy for my first one. All the stops were a good mile apart so I had to drive. I think it was designed for bike riders.
Also, I managed to get the wrong answer to 2 of the questions and had to contact the previous finder for a hint. Boo.
My "get a little exercise" cache turned into a long drive and multi-day adventure.
Magical Mystery Cache -GC143C
First location - Neely Historical House.
I needed to find the year built. I got 1885, which is what it says on the sign, and on the website when I Googled it to make sure I wasn't insane. Apparently the answer was 1884.
2nd location - Green River Natural Resource Area
My 2nd wrong answer was here. How many steps do you see on the top set? 5 steps right? Apparently the answer is 6. I have yet to meet anyone else who counts the landing you start on as a step, but there you have it!
3rd location - Van Doren Landing Park
4th location - Monument base
Final -
The final took 2 attempts. I dug around and didn't find anything on my first attempt. After rereading all the logs, and hints and things, I tried again. Determined to find it, I dug around in the dirt for almost 15 minutes. Recent weed whacking had dislodged and buried it neaby. After all that, the log was wet and frozen so I couldn't even sign it!

Mom's Erratic
I am attempting to keep a streak of at least one cache a day going. Today is day 6. Keeping a streak going requires an entire different mindset from my usual caching. Usually, I try and get as many as possible a day in whatever area I'm in, but don't mind if I miss a few days. With a cache-a-day streak, I actually need to avoid getting too many cache's near my house as I will rapidly run out. It also requires me to drag the kids along whether they want to stop of not. Some people have streaks of 1-3 years going. They have more dedication, and time, than I. I will be happy to make it a month and will probably quit at that point.

Power outtage
High winds caused the power to go out again. Luckily right after we finished dinner. Dishes will have to wait until tomorrow. :)
I managed to find a box of candles, but realized I don't have any candle holders! I must somewhere, but haven't a clue where. Beans in a mason jar worked in a pinch.
The kids and I played Skip Bo by candlelight.

MP in NP
Today's caching adventure was mostly about keeping my streak going. I have now found caches 4 days in a row. Rather a pathetic streak really, but longer than any previous streak and one must start somewhere. Hope to keep it going at least a few more days!

Girl Scouts Pottery Badge
Nora's Girl Scout troop is earning their Pottery Badge. They made cute penguins.
While they were busy, I was geocaching. Of course.

This one was literally in the parking lot where I dropped Nora off.
Peppermint Bark (Sundae Toppings #2) -GC3ETMT
This one hadn't been found since summer, so it was rather jammed between the trees. I managed to pry it out though.
The Eagles Nest -GC44JW9
Getting this cache was both my proudest caching achievement, and my dumbest one. It was 25-30 feet up in a tree. Climbing a tree, in the rain, alone, with no one knowing where I was - not smart. But, I am very proud of myself for getting a cache with a terrain rating of 5 - the highest possible. Woohoo!
