End of the Month

I'm trying to keep to an average of 1 cache a day and am seriously behind for September.  I caught most of the way up today though.

Guard a Motorcycle

This was a quick and easy park-and-grab near the feed store I was headed to.

Fuzzy Tree

From the name of this, you'd think it would be in the tree, but it was actually under the trailer.

In Plain Sight 1

I chose a freeway exit at random on the way home and looked for caches in that area.  This one was hiding literally in plain sight. It looked like an electrical box on a light pole.

Fred & Barney in lights

Another park-and-grab.

Pioneer Cemetery

My first cemetery cache.  A very cool old, old cemetery.

29 Caches for the month total.  Not bad!

After a long break

I have gone 10 days without finding a cache.  Here I thought I'd have lots of time with the kids starting school, but between being busy and the kids refusing to come with me, nothing.  I determined to fix that today!  Yay!

light skirt 10
Nice and easy to start off with.

Champion #3

This one must be part of a series.  Quick & easy though.

Waymarking Challenge - 10
My last find of the day was my most exciting.  This cache is rarely found due to it's clever hiding location.  I found it on my first try!  It was hiding in the top of a fence post!

To log this challenge, you also have to have logged 10 Waymarks at Waymarking.com.  I haven't waymarked before, but it seems to me so far to be Geocaching for lazy people.  You go to locations and, at most, snap a photo then log into the site and say you've been there.  I went onto the site and logged 32 waymarks so far just from our Victoria trip and cruise last year.  There are no rules saying you have to log current places, retro ones are ok.  I hear there are challenges that you can do, but so far unimpressed.  It is nice that several places where I've been that didn't have geocaches do have waymarks though.

There is a Waymarking Challenge - 50 cache nearby.  I looked for it, but didn't find it.  I will need to log another 28 Waymarks before I can officially find that one anyway.

My official geocache count is now at 80!

Out in the Sticks

I found a Farm Stand "nearby" and wanted to check it out.  The produce was good, thankfully.  I was hoping to get milk there.  $18 for a gallon of raw milk?  Um, no thank you.

Another Big Ol' House
I've driven by this house a number of times but have never stopped.  I will need to come back on a weekend when it's open.

Flaming Gas
Flaming Guyser State Park is only a few miles from where I was so I headed out there to up my State Parks caches.  I was unable to get the official State Park cache as I couldn't find the new trailhead.  Would be nice if the park noted there was a new trail instead of just posting "Trail Closed" at the old one.  Next time!

This was my first Virtual Cache.  You go to the location, but there is no actual cache to be found.  Instead, you find the answers to a few questions which you then email to the cache owner to log your find.

On the way to school, day 2

We had much better luck caching the next day and found 3!

Old Military Road Cache
Too bad we forgot our swag in the car. This one was actually big enough to hold it!

Sarah's Cold De Sac
Just the fact that the cache owner doesn't know how to properly spell Cul de Sac should've alerted me that this cache was not too exciting. We did find it though - a nasty, wet, moldy, ice cream container in an unlovely area.  We were the first to find it in 2 months so that was cool I guess.

Voodoo Cache
Another to add to my "do not recommend" list.  Not sure what's up with the name.  Just a small container hidden in a not-so-nice location.  Nora and I had tried looking for this a few months ago.  Figured it out this time that it needed to be accessed from a different parking lot.

lights out!?

Until Logan's school bus gets set-up, I need to drive him to school.  We have an extra 30 minutes to kill each day so have been looking for a cache or 2 each day.

I wish I had taken a photo of this one.  The container was inside an electrical outlet box.  Very clever!

We looked for 1 other cache this day, but didn't find it.

Puyallup Fair

It's once again time to Do The Puyallup!  And, no, I don't care that it's not called that anymore.

Eric bought a bunch of ride tickets for the kids and we spent the next hour practically forcing them to actually go on any rides.  For the record: Joshua is a wimp.  We finally got him to go down the 2 slides.  He spent most of his tickets on arcade games.  Nora is our daredevil. She is game to go on just about anything.

4H Fair Adventure

There were 7 "lab" caches hidden at the Washington State Fair.  As best I can tell, Lab caches are virtual caches - there is no actual container.  You just have to go to the location, find a word or picture or somesuch, and enter it into the website for your "find".  I dragged the kids around and found all 7.

We went to the Piglet Palace, Draft Horse Barn, Poultry & Rabbit Barn, Sillyville, Extreme Scream ride, the Milking Parlour, and the Fair View Club.  Pretty easy and brings our cache finds up to 71!

GOT MILK?!

Like the total dork that I am, I actually drive 40 miles out to a farm to buy milk.  It's raw (not pasteurized) and non-homogenized and tastes amazing.  I was going to suggest to the owners to place a cache out here, but there already was one!

Supermall Caches

Had some returns at the Mall and grabbed a few caches on the way home.

#1 -Wall-E
This was a basic lamppost cache.

#2 -nano el nino la nina nano anano

A super tiny cache hiding in the fence.

The Harper Mystery, Harper Park & Ride

We had passed by a Park N Ride on the way to the ferry and I saw there was 2 geocaches there.  Since parking would be easy, I decided to stop and grab them.

Once again, only Jon got out of the motorhome!

Bison By The Boats

The baby was on respite for the weekend on Vashon Island.  We met at the Southworth Ferry Dock. Jon (kids friend, the only one who wanted to get out of the motorhome) & I found this cache waiting for the ferry to arrive.

WaStatePks100: Belfair

We took the kids camping over the weekend to Belfair State Park.  We got a super-sweet spot with a view of Hood Canal.   Amazing, sunny weather as well.

The goecache at the park was somewhat less spectacular.  It was supposed to be a 5 stage multi, but I never found most of the stages.  The first location was a sign and the Hint was to read the sign.  I read it, and it said something about "the next kiosk...", so I went there.  There was absolutely nothing on the kiosk anywhere to indicate directions, coordinates, look for another sign, nothing. The only reason I found the cache at wall was from the hint for the final which said "sword fern at the base of a maple tree on the North side of the creek".  I went hunting for that and found it.   Not a well-done multi at all.  But, I found it, so all's well that ends well!

Caching in the Buff

I hadn't cached in a few days and decided to grab a few on the way home from picking up a kid.  I only managed to find one out of the 5 I actively looked for.  (I'm pretty sure they were missing, not that I couldn't find them.)  Sad day for caching!

The name of this cache is because it is supposedly so easy you could grab it in the buff.  :)
