Saanich Police Cache

My family was tired and very happy to sit in the hotel watching TV, I was feeling antsy having only gotten a few Victoria caches and wanted more before we left the next day.  Sadly, I waited until too late and was only able to find one before dark.

Royal BC Museum

Our "purpose" in going to Victoria was to see the Viking Exhibit at the Royal BC Museum. It was sadly disappointing.  Lots of small artifacts in glass cases with lots of reading. Even Eric & I got bored and skipped half.  Had we known, we would have done the main museum first - which is amazing and very kid friendly - when the kids were fresh. By the time we did the main part, Joshua & Nora were "done" and just wanted to leave.  Live and learn.

Sunken Garden

Ironically, our only cache find in downtown Victoria.  We kept meaning to get others, but it never worked out.  Glad we found this one!

Cattle Point Cache

Final cache at the park.

Roll of Honour

Cache #2 at the park.

Dino Dragon Pirate Cache

Ironically, most of the places we drove around to in Victoria did not have cache's nearby.  Luckily we found plenty at Oak Bay park.  I have many fond memories of crawling around the rocks there, our kids seemed to enjoy it as well!

"Kustom Kacher's" TB Race Start!

We went to Victoria for Labor Day weekend.  We had been there almost 24 hours and I had yet to find a cache and was getting antsy, so I went for a walk near our hotel.  My first two cache locations were a bust but luckily I found the third!

It was hanging in plain sight, but it took me a few minutes to figure out the code to the padlock.  (It was part of the coordinates.)

Cache #50!! - The 2011 Bears

We needed to find a larger size cache to deposit our two travel bugs and this one was nearby.  This makes our 50th cache found!  Not bad for a little over a month.

Palisades Park

Today we remedied one of our previous "Did Not Find" caches.  Now that we know better what to look for, this one was easy peasy!

Mohamed & Nora

The Wild Things "R"

Picked up this one on the way to the pack.

It was in sorry shape, the lid was off and the log was wet.  It even had a live slug crawling around.  Yuck.  We rescued two Travel Bugs from the cache to move them to a drier location.

The Lost Boys' Treasure

Took the kids to the playground and grabbed this one while they played.

Licorice Ferns

On the way home from camping, the kids and I stopped to get a few caches.  We quickly realized that the motorhome, aka The Beast, is not conducive to quick stops and gave up on getting more than one.  We did have a lovely hike through the woods for this one though.

Angry Annapolis

Found this teeny tiny cache on a pier in Port Orchard.

WaStatePks100: Manchester

We went camping at Manchester State Park so finding the park cache was a mandatory adventure!

This one required you to visit 3 historic buildings to collect information to find the coordinates for the final cache.

Torpedo Storehouse

Mining Casement

Battery Mitchell

The final cache!  Introduced Ruby & Kimberly George to caching as well.

12 days of Christmas - Day 9

My last find for the day was this.  A fake bolt on the bottom of a picnic table.  Hiding in plain sight!

I had actually looked for "12 Days of Christmas - Day 10", but after searching through 5 trees for 10 minutes decided it had gone missing.   Someday I shall have to go down the trail farther and find the rest of the Days.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 11

Next down the trail was this canister.  It was right near the stream and a frog, or something, kept jumping and making noise and freaking me out!

12 Days of Christmas - Day 12

Eric needed to get a trailer hitch installed on his van and sent me to do it while he worked on the Tree Mansion.  There were caches nearby, so I went on a l-o-n-g walk while I waited.

*Note to self: Always go to the bathroom before going on a long walk.  You'd think I would have learned that by now, but apparently not.  I walked right past a cache on my way out, but decided to grab it on the way back instead of backtracking.  I had to go so badly by the time I came back, I pretty much ran past it.  Guess I will get it next time I'm in the area!

I seem to have stumbled onto another Christmas series. First up was an itty bitty red container hanging off a bridge by some fishing line.

Best Practice

I chose this one as it had a bit higher difficulty rating, of 2.5.  Thought after all my easy finds I should challenge myself a bit.

Took me awhile to find it as it was so tiny.  I actually had felt in the right spot, but missed it.  An employee at the business it is in front of popped their head out and gave me a clue, so I looked, or rather felt, again.

There is was, tucked in the corner of the bottom of the mailbox - the fake, chewed gum cache.  There is actually a teeny, tiny log rolled up in the bottom.  I didn't bother signing as I didn't want to be there all day trying to stuff it back in.  :)  I thought it was so funny, I dragged the boys out of the car and made them find it as well.

Count Down to Christmas - December 12

This is my 4th cache in this series.  Will be fun to try and find them all.

This decent size container was hiding in the crook of the tree.  So well hidden, you'd never see it if you weren't looking for it.  I was surprised something so large would fit.

Count Down to Christmas - December 11

Another one down the street a ways.
